Forum on Police Response to Occupy Oakland
Thursday, Feb. 9th @ 6:15 p.m
A symposium sponsored by the Oakland Citizens’ Police Review Board
The forum will focus on issues of planning and strategy, OPD’s response to issues of misconduct, OPD’s policies on mutual aid, and changes in department practice going forward.

After five years of hard work and true dedication, our Program Director, Lily Haskell, will be leaving AROC in the late Summer (Sept 2012). No words can truly express our appreciation for Lily’s dedication to the work, which has left a lasting impact on our lives. Lily has been more than just a co-worker, she is family. Please help AROC find qualified candidates for this position. Spread the word to your networks! AROC is a membership based organization led by a Collective comprised of paid staff and volunteer members. Volunteer members of the Collective and AROC General Members contribute much of the programmatic work and political direction of the organization. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing organizational leadership, fundraising, program supervision, and operational management within the context of this Collective structure. While many of the duties involve operations and fundraising, we are looking for a dynamic person who is interested and able to contribute to all aspects of the organization, including our programmatic work.

(San Francisco, CA, 01/25/12) – Supervisor Jane Kim introduced legislation before the Board of
Supervisors today that would prohibit members of the San Francisco Police Department working with the
FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) from collecting intelligence on San Franciscans unless there is

AROC members are involved in many things. In order to account for and support all the different projects, coalitions, and ongoing work folks have their hands in, we have created Committees. The monthly membership meeting will now focus on a different Committee each time—that way we can really highlight the political education around that work in addition to practical workshops that move that work forward.
