The Arab Resource and Organizing Center is the next chapter of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, San Francisco. At AROC, we seek to further our reach within our communities to address the needs of Arabs and others from South West Asian and North African countries here in the Bay Area, as well as in our countries of origin.
ARAB AMERICAN LEGAL SERVICES: Working with a network of immigrant legal groups and grassroots organizations to educate San Francisco residents on their rights and to help empower immigrants to organize politically. Offering free immigration legal services to San Francisco residents, with a focus on low to moderate-income Arab, East African and South Asian communities.
LEADERSHIP AND EMPOWERMENT: Currently planning how best to build leadership and increase political education with the aim of empowering Bay Area Arab communities. With a focus on youth and immigrants, we hope to begin this program in fall 2007. To get involved with this initiative, please e-mail the address below.
ANTI-DISCRIMINATION HOTLINE: Collecting and registering complaints from the Arab community regarding discrimination and hate crimes, as well as making legal referrals and advocating on behalf of survivors. Working as a chapter affiliate of ADC.
MOBILIZATIONS: Organizing San Francisco Bay Area residents to bring Arab voices to anti-war and immigrant justice marches, protests and political lobbying.
